Over 1 million patients have recovered sight in Venezuela

According to a press release of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (MINCI) Cuban specialists made 534,685 surgeries while Venezuelans performed 299,289.
The figure includes also 204,736 Venezuelan patients operated on in Cuba at the beginning of the program in 2004, pointed out the document.
Among treated illness are cataract, glaucoma, strabismus, myopia and astigmatism.
According to the MINCI this program benefited thousand of Latin Americans.
In 2009 about 100,000 people were surgical undertaken in Venezuela due to sight illnesses, among them 894 foreigners.
