The critics were divided into the two sides that used to have the Almodovarian filmography, included desertions of those who were at one time passionate admirers.
While some critics praise "Broken Embraces" highlighting the recovering of the creative spirit of his first films and the fluent account, others reproach him the loose of the narrative pulse, the lack of emotion and photography without inspiration.
Over and above the pros and cons, Almodovar’s work has always been polemic.
Cuban audiences follow their own opinion and pack movie theaters; read or not the critics and go en mass any time an Almodovar´s film is announced.
