Both initiatives are aimed at achieving a more effective conservation of the coast and marine protected areas located in the archipelagos of Southern Cuba and the prevention and control of the invasive exotic species in vulnerable ecosystems.
According to Granma daily, the research work, as well as other activities, will take about five years, and will be financed by the World Environment Fund.
Experts from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment say those projects are very important to preserve the biodiversity, chiefly in this country where invasive exotic species cause lots of damage.
