According to Juan Perez, director of the Center for Isotope Research, belonging to the Nuclear Agency of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, national capacities in this kind of production are particularly aimed to the health sector.
Main challenges in 2010 are related to the creation of new products and their links to hospitals and other centers, a measure to supply and increase exports, the leader stated.
Although radiopharmaceuticals are radioactive agents, their use in health is safe due to the level of radiation the human body receives from them.
