The Cuban 110 metres hurdles Olympic champion and current world record holder Dayron Robles stopped the clocks at 7.50 seconds, a tenth shy of the fastest 60m hurdles race this year, barely a month away from the world indoor championships.

At the athletics meeting in the German city of Düsseldorf, the 23-year-old silver medallist in the world indoors in 2006, showed his good shape in his first competitive appearance since injuring a thigh in last year's outdoor world championships in Berlin.

Though away from his personal best of 7.33sec set here in February 2008 which is the second best time in history, Robles proved he is fully recovered a serious contender for the indoor gold medal.

In statements to the press, the Cuban champ declared he expects to improve his time in the upcoming events, since he feels he is not still at his prime.
