Legislators from the ruling Socialist Party of Portugal (PS) on Thursday advocated to increase bilateral and inter-parliamentary relations with Cuba.

During a meeting with Cuban ambassador to Portugal Eduardo Gonzalez Lerner, the national secretary of PS International Relations, Jose Lello expressed his willingness to keep fostering bonds with Cuba.

The two officials also dealt with affairs of mutual and international interest, particularly Cuba's aid for Haiti after the quake.

The possible creation of the Portugal-Cuba Friendship Group in the legislative body was analyzed as well, diplomatic sources informed.
