Cuban groups of traditional music such as Muñequitos de Matanzas, César "Pupy" Pedroso y los que son Son, Manolito Simonet, and Klímax, as well as singers Samuel Formell and Ramsés Rodríguez, will participate in the event.
In statements to the Cuban News Agency (ACN), drummer Giraldo Piloto, director of Klimax and president of the event’s organizing committee, said that the main representatives of today’s Cuban percussion world have been included in the program.
Piloto added that the event will also have a competitive section aiming at highlighting the talent of new artists in traditional music.
The Drum Fiesta will pay tribute to distinguished late percussionists such as Ricardo "Papín" Abreu, founder of Los Papines; Jesús Alfonso Miró, from Muñequitos de Matanzas; and bongo player Roberto García.
Guests from Canada, the United States and Holland will participate in this event that will be hosted by the Amadeo Roldan and the America theaters, and by the Rumba Palace and the Salon Rosado de la Tropical cultural complex in Havana as well.
