With more than 200 intellectuals, editors, dancers, musicians and directors, that nation is sharing the best of its culture with the Havana people in different areas of this capital, with concerts, presentations and a film exhibition with yesterday's and today's classics.
In an interview with reporters, filmmakers and actors attending the fair, led by Russian Filmmaker and Actor Union Vice president Nikita Mijalkov Sergei Lazaruk, talked about their country's filmography.
In his opinion, the cinema is undergoing a new wave, with more than 2.000 movie theaters that were recently opened, and new creators are constantly emerging. Last year, for example, 50 directors made their debut, they said.
Although production is progressing at good pace, with greater approach to patriotic themes, the challenge our filmography is facing today is distribution, Lazaruk said.
During his visit to Cuba, he is being accompanied by screenwriter, actress and director Vera Storozheva, who expressed her desire of filming in Cuba in a near future, and also by actress Svetlana Toma, known for her role of Rada in the film "Gypsies Go to Heaven," by Emil Lotianu.
Spectators can enjoy two exhibitions until February 21. One being about contemporary cinema and the other on classics, based on literary works as "The Lady with The Dog," by Anton Chejov, filmed in 1960 by Iosif Heifits, and "Crime and Punishment" by
Fiodor Dostoievski, directed by Lev Kulidzhanov.
