During the meeting, the First VP highlighted the traditional bonds of fraternity uniting the peoples of the Canary Islands and Cuba, and pointed out the willingness of strengthening and deepening the links with that Spanish Autonomous Community,
with which the Cuban nation shares history, traditions and culture.
For his part, the distinguished guest expressed his satisfaction for this, his second visit to the archipelago, and emphasized the potentialities currently existing to expand economic and commercial relations and well as cooperation between the peoples and governments of the Canary Islands and Cuba.
Accompanying the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Paulino Rivero, were Spain’s ambassador in Havana, Manuel Cacho, and other officials from the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. Representing Cuba were Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and other officials from the Foreign Ministry.
