Cuban pitcher Luis Miguel Rodríguez, Olympic runner up in Beijing 2008, had a great performance when his team from Holguín defeated the Santiago de Cuba squad and is about to classify to the current playoff of the current baseball season on the island.

The Holguín squad has one game ahead of their counterpart, Las Tunas, and is behind the Santiago squad in their search for the forth place of their eastern division.

Finally, it would be a landmark if the Holguín squad could classify into the next stage of the current baseball championship as almost no one believed that Holguín could get that far when this stage of the baseball series started recently.
