Produced by the U.S. Anschutz Entertainment Group Live (AEG Live) production company, the concert has raised expectation in the public, after her last presentation at the Carnegie Hall.
During an interview with The Associated Press (AP) upon her arrival in the United States, the Cuban diva thanked her followers and all those who remember her for her performance with the Buenavista Social Club.
Portuondo spoke about issues that ranged from her personal life to her beginnings in music to her memories of the late Ibrahím Ferrer, Compay Segundo and Rubén González,. fellow artists.
She also talked about her album Gracias, with which she won a Latin Grammy in November and that got also nominated for the 2010 Grammy Awards, given by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS).
Asked by journalists how she was preparing to celebrate her 80th birthday, Omara Portuondo reaffirmed her Cuban spirit and her love for the land where she was born. (ACN)
