IMF: Cuban Tourism Going Well

The expert presented an IMF study on the impact of the world crisis on tourism in the Caribbean, during an international economists' meeting taking place at Havana's Convention Center since Monday.
In statements to press after his presentation, Romeu stressed the Cuban tourism's results in 2009 are amazingly good, taking into consideration the decrease reported in other regional nations.
The expert wondered how come so many tourists came to Cuba in 2009, far over the 2008 results.
He expressed his desire for this trend to keep growing in the future, given the poor job situation as result of the crisis.
According to IMF predictions, if US travel bans on Cuba were over, the number of US tourists coming to the island in the first year would amount to some 3.5 millions or more.
The IMF expert commented the growth in the Cuban lazy industry was remarkable in the period, and praised the high potentialities in this and other sectors.
