Cerebrovascular disease is the third cause of death in most countries, and the first cause of physical handicap for its aftereffects.

  Such an episode is considered a medical emergency, every minute counts when a person suffers a cerebrovascular disease. Immediate healthcare can save life, and possibilities for proper recovery are higher, explained experts to the second International Nuerorehabilitation Meeting, taking place at Havana's Convention Center.

During a lecture, specialists insisted on the need to apply early integral treatment, less than three hours after the episode for successful therapy.

Effects of such affliction can vary, and include paralysis, speech and vision disorders, and lack of motor coordination.

NEUROREHABANA 2010 opened yesterday with the participation of over 250 delegates from Ibero-America and Europe, who are developing a wide working agenda.
