Dedicated this year to country music, this 14th edition will be attended by cultivators of this tradition from around the world, as well as by children, who will show the tunes they have learned from this oral tradition.
The Symposium will be held according to an academic program that will include conferences, panels, workshops, and the presentation of CD’s books and other publications, according to information provided by the Cuban Music Institute sponsoring the event, which includes on its agenda themes like research as a tool to preserve folklore values and traditions, country music, diversity of genres, and virtuoso instrumentalists of country music.
Other topics under debate will be the interrelation between music and poetry, great figures of improvisation in Iberian-America and the Caribbean, expressions of country music in concert music and other artistic expressions in Iberian-America and the Caribbean, the role of families and educational institutions in the transmitting of values and traditions, artistic teaching and its relationship with the knowledge of folklore, as well as artistic creation.
Called to attend the meeting are musicologists, researchers, communicators, writers, musicians, producers, critics, entrepreneurs in the field of music, e-commerce and shows, editors, collectors, promoters, students, and other specialists from the world of music and show business.
