The Industriales team, known as the Blue Lions of the capital, as their fans like to call them, will come out on their turf of the colossal Latino Americano Stadium in quest of their first victory in the Final of the Cuban baseball Series.
The capital team is trailing behind a current 0-2 result after losing as visitors the first two games to the Villa Clara squad, traditionally known as the squad in orange uniforms of the Central region.
Additionally, either team should win al least four of the official seven scheduled games to be played during the current final to putting an end to the 49th National Baseball Championship.
On the other hand, the Industriales squad reached the 12th spot during the 2009 Baseball season against all odds, which constituted a meritorious feat taking into account that they are the youngest team in Cuban baseball today with an average age of 21.10 years, with a few old timers.
The Villa Clara squad, which is facing off their counterpart Industriales in their turf, will try to win their first Championship in 15 years.
Last season it also reached the Final but lost to the provincial team Havana, traditionally known as the cowboys, and in 2004 they were defeated by the Industriales 0-4.
In addition, the Villa Clara squad has a negative record of 10 losses in a row against the Industriales in previous final Cuban Series.
This time around, Industrials lost 3-2 and 3-0 to Villa Clara in games disputed at the Candido Gonzalez Stadium in Santa Clara.
Villa Clara’s Technical Director Eduardo Martin have announced right-hander Luis Borroto, a failed pitcher of the Cuban National Team who has come back and had a good season this year.
The Industriales head coach, German Mesa, will send left-hander Ian Rendon to the mound hoping the young hurler pitches as well as in his two first outings in this post-season when he first beat both the Sancti Spiritus squad, known as the Roosters and the Havana squad.
