If his one inning Sunday is any indication, Aroldis Chapman's back spasms appear to have been a momentary setback.
The Cincinnati Reds' $30 million left-hander threw a scoreless inning in Goodyear, Ariz., though it was in a minor league game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
But more reassuring to the Reds, his fastball topped out at 97 mph and his slider looked nasty.
"I felt like before," Chapman said through translator. "I feel really good."
The 22-year-old Cuban defector, who hit 100 mph earlier in the spring, signed a six-year, $30.25 million deal in January.
He was competing for the fifth starter's job before the setback, but now it's uncertain whether he fits into the Reds' early-season plans in the major or minor leagues.
