Cuban forest rangers are currently getting ready to prevent fires or mitigate damages, when most of those phenomena occur in April.

According to statistics, the most critical period takes place between February 1 and May 31. The country should redouble effort to minimize disastrous consequences.

Forest rangers and authorities are predicting for next month the existence of danger conditions that will enable the emergence of forest fires.

For that reason, they called people to maximize preventive measures, avoid burning within or near forests, and warn immediately authorities of an unexpected forest disaster.

Official figures state that about 129 forest fires have occurred in Cuba from January 1 to March 25 this year, destroying 1,719 hectares of forests.
