During a concert tour of Cuba, three classically trained musicians from Germany - concert pianist Tobias Forster, his brother, bassist Killian Forster and drummer Tim Hahn, a.k.a. the Klazz Brothers - began playing music with two of the most dynamic percussionists on Havana's rich musical scene, timbales master Alexis Herrera Estevez and conguero Elio Rodrigez Luis.
The chemistry was powerful and instantaneous, resulting in a unique blend of famous classical melodies and Cuban rhythms.
The Klazz Brothers and Cuba Percussion's critically acclaimed first recording, Classic Meets Cuba, was nominated for a Grammy in 2005 as Best Classical Crossover Album.
Best of Classic Meets Cuba includes “Mambozart," “Carmen Cubana" and “Air" (featured in the Tom Cruise/Jamie Foxx movie Collateral), plus two newly recorded pieces: Paganini variations and a new version of Mozart's “La ci darem la mano" from Don Giovanni.
