Pioneer children, students, workers, housewives, combatants, artists and intellectuals, and retirees from the Playa, Plaza de la Revolucion and Cerro municipalities, assembled at the historic place, also to denounce the defamatory media campaigns launched by the imperialism and its European allies.
The rally was presided over by Misael Enamorado, member of the Politburo of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC); Victor Gaute and Olga Lidia Tapia, members of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCC, and Lazara Mercedes Lopez, first secretary of the Party in the capital.
Also present were other leaders from political and mass organizations and the Cuban government and State, as well as personalities like Brigadier General Delsa Esther Puebla (Teté).
Forty nine years ago, on the corner of 23rd and 12th streets, near Havana’s Colon Cemetery, during the funeral of the victims of the attacks against several Cuban airports the day before, Fidel made it clear that " this is the socialist and democratic revolution of the humble, by the humble and for the humble.”
