Cuba's female volleyball team preparation for the 2010 World Cup started by winning Copa Telefonica in Niño Héroe Manuel Bonilla Colliseum in Lima, Peru, along three-week high-altitude training.

The on-line weekly magazine Jit says they defeated Peru 3-1 led by new coach Juan Carlos Gala, scoring 21-25, 26-24, 25-15 and 25-22, plus wins on Argentina and Uruguay.

In Havana they will get ready for the traditional tournaments in China and in Montreux, Switzerland, and for the 9th Pan-American Cup in Baja California from June 16-27 that secures slots for the 2011 Grand Prix.
