The First World Summit on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth ends on Thursday in Cochabamba, Bolivia, with the presentation of a Final Declaration on the Rights of Mother Earth.

On the last day of the meeting, guest presidents will meet with around 45,000 representatives of social and indigenous movements from all continents.

The conclusions of the event, previously approved by attendees, are included in the Final Declaration as well as initiatives on the next steps needed to protect Mother Earth, announced the Bolivian News Agency.

The protection and rational use of natural resources was the main proposal of the forum which also advocated the penalization of nations harming the environment.

The creation of an International Court for Climate Justice to judge violators of environmental agreements was presented by Bolivian President Evo Morales, and supported by several international personalities.

Morales said the new structure should be validated by the United Nations.

In spite of the little coverage of the event by the mainstream media, the Summit had a significant international impact, according to experts interviewed by Telesur.

They assured that it has been fully justified and had an international scope with views to the Mexico climate summit slated for the end of the year and after the Copenhagen fiasco.
