The casual virus of influenza A (H1N1) keeps its genetic composition and shows a great capacity of adjustment to the environment, reported Cuban experts.

Experts from the Tropical Medicine Institute Pedro Kouri (IPK) informed that shortly after completing one year of circulation in Cuba, the pathogen has not mutated, which scientifics fear could happen because of the risks involved to control it in the epidemiological and virological order.

The surveillance system establihshed by the IPK allows to daily evaluate in its high-tech laboratories the behaviour of the pandemic virus by nasopharyngeal exudates samples received from across the country, declares an article in Granma newspaper.

The Doctor of Medical Science Alina Llop Hernandez, deputy director of Microbiology of IPK and head of the National Reference Laboratory of the Ministry of Public Health, stated such studies show in the last four weeks the A (H1N1) displaced other
respiratory virus throughout the country.

So it is very important not to "lower the guard" before the appearance of any flu symptoms, taking into account the "special ability" this pandemic virus has to associate itself with bacteria and create within hours severe disease endangering the lives of patients.

Among them and mainly pregnant women and new mothers, children, youth and people of all ages with immunosuppression, obesity or chronic heart diseases, diabetes mellitus and asthma
