Cuba Puts Final Touches to Elections
The president of the National Electoral Commission, Ana Maria Mari, said that will be the official number of voters when beginning elections on Sunday.
A run off will take place on Sunday May 2 in those electoral districts in which any of the 34,776 nominated candidates have over 50 percent of the valid vote.
The 15,093 delegates to the People's Power Municipal Assemblies will be elected at Sunday local elections and they will remain in their posts for two years and a half without receiving any remuneration.
According to official figures, three of each four men and women included in the voting paper are up to 50 years old, a figure higher to the 53.9 percent that represents that group chosen in our society.
