"It is pointless to ban an exchange that does not harm anyone; on the contrary, it benefits the two nations," outstanding US scientist Nicholas S. Hill, vice president of the American Thoracic Society, stated.
This expert, from the Rhode Island Hospital in Boston, is participating in the Third International Symposium on Mechanic Ventilation and Blood Gases, taking place in the central Cuban province of Villa Clara.
"Several physicians from my country wished to come to Cuba to attend this event and they could not, due to obstacles the government has put to the scientific exchange among colleagues," Hill told reporters.
The expert praised Cuban colleagues' capacity, and termed them competent professionals, Granma newspaper reported.
Renowned experts from Germany, Spain, Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina, Ecuador, Chile, Costa Rica and Uruguay are also attending such meeting.
