The Cuban tourist industry is opening up even more after one million tourists visited the island nation in the first four months of this year.

Tourist administrators have said they are preparing to develop more tourist real estate, including marinas, golf courses and other tourist investments; most of them out of Havana.

Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero has reported that Cuba received the most people ever in a four month period.

The figure is an increase of 101% over the number of tourists who visited Cuba during the same period in 2009.

Many visits to the island were made by Cuban emigrants, who now live in the US.
