HAVANA, Cuba, May 17. Venezuelan skaters Solimar Vivas and Felipe Castillo won the 200 meter time trials in both sexes at the Cuban Sports Olympiad underway in Cuba Hill next May 29.

At the Raúl Díaz Arguelles Sports Complex, Vivas led the women’s event when she stopped the clocks at 17.94 seconds, enough to leave behind her team mate Grabiela Serrano (19.57) and Cuban from the Occidentales team Fanny L.Pedroso (20.10)

Carrillo did the same in the men’s race. His 17.29 seconds were too fase for his compatriot Gerardo Castillo (17.43) and Occidentales Antonio Sánchez Blanco (17.70).

Venezuela now leads the competition with 2 gold and two silver medals, while Occidentales has two bronze.

Also in today’s programme, there will the 20 KM elimination (m-f),while tomorrow the participating athletes will compete in the 500 meters.
