Cuban Computer Sciences and Communications (MIC) Vice Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo assured Monday his country privileges the social use of information and communications technologies (ICT), although he recognized Cuba is still far from its goals.

"Still distant of our goals and yearnings, the results of the island in the item privilege a high social character, unaware to any manifestation of consumerism and forming professionals with ethical values, quite different from the neoliberal globalization," he added.

At the same time that the equipment is modernized, the nets are prioritized in sectors of more social influence, including centers of health, education and scientific research," Perdomo stated in occasion of the World Day of the Telecommunications and of the Information Society.

During his addressee at the University of Computer Sciences, in the west of Havana, the MIC Vice Minister highlighted the stimulus to the creation and storage of contents created by Cuban specialists.

When talking about the Computation and Electronic Clubs in Cuba, Perdomo pointed out that they were the first community centers created in the island for training in computer science, and in 22 years they have formed more than 2.2 million people for free.

For Perdomo, things carried out by Cuba have been meritorious for the permanency of the US hostility against Havana, actions he said US President Barack Obama  s government has disguised, to increase them.

The information and communications technologies(ICT) are included in the media campaign against Cuba, he explained at the time that he denounced the attempts of the big media centers to control Internet and perpetuate the dependence of the rest of the world.

"The media war increases the development of the "cyber war" through foundations and imperial institutions, like more modern but more aggressive and cynic expression of aggression of the US imperialism," he underlined.

This time with the motto "A Better City, a Better Life with the ICT," the World Day takes place on May 17 for the foundation in 1865 of the International Union of Telecommunications and the first international telegraphic agreement.
