Camagüey, May 20 – A total of 1,008 Cuban citizens, nominated and elected by the people swore Wednesday as delegates of the municipal assemblies of the People’s Power in Camaguey to rule for a two years and a half term in this portion of Cuba.

In the municipality of Camaguey, the lawmaking body – made up by 210 members - ratified engineer Andrés Morales Leal as its president, and elected Joel Cruz Valera, vice-chairman of the council.

The new government is also made up by 28 delegates whose age is under 35, and 82 women among them Iraida Curró Basulto, who founded this assembly in 1976 and Yisselyiulit Pañoe Lafuempe, 21, who works and studies.

All sectors and groups within the population are represented in the new composition of the government, including pensioners, housewifes and self-employed workers.
