The event, sponsored by the Cultural Fund of the ALBA and the National Council of Cultural Heritage (CNPC), took place in the abovementioned mountainous settlement with the participation of renowned experts from Ecuador, Venezuela, Brazil, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Saint Vincent and the Granadines and Cuba.
The program comprised visits to museums, to Viñales Valley, the Buena Vista coffee plantation, as well as debates and paper presentations.
This event was designed in order to promote the authentic values of our identity and strengthen theoretical and practical experiences in the area of community cultural management.
In addition it was included in the celebrations for the International Museum Day marked every May 18, which became a call to preserve these institutions.
The different topics got related to the projects of the social appropriation of constructed and intangible heritage, the educative and cultural programs, the historical cities, the relationship among the villagers and the preservation of the heritage, among other themes.
This community project of Candelaria municipality is the first place to win the Ecomuseum category, a well deserved title given the efforts of its members and governmental entities that turn this spot into a space of socio-cultural and ecological management.
