Hundreds of moscovites enjoyed the exhibit in Manezhnaya Gallery of 60 paintings by 15 Cuban artists celebrating the 50th anniversary of restoring Cuba-Russia diplomatic relations.
In presence of the Cuban Culture Deputy Minister Julio Ballester and the director of ARTEX enterprise Jose Ruiz, together with Cuban ambassador to Russia, Juan Valdés Figueroa, the exhibition was inaugurated on May 26th.
The expo, sponsored by Cuba's ARTEX Company and Moscow's Cigar Club, also involves pieces from the private collection of Artazhesh Zherikian, said diplomatic sources.
Canvasses by Mirton Bernal, known as the Tobacco Painter, attract many visitors. He lines his drawings with tobacco leaves due to the paper-like texture acquired through chemical treatment that help preserve their color and plasticity.
The visitors are also showing interest in news on Cuba.
