From Jun 3rd to the 27th, 2010, the GALA Hispanic Theatre for Latino Performing Arts in the heart of Washington, DC will be closing its 34th season, ¡A todo corazón!, with the world premiere of the musical El Bola ~ Cuba’s King of Song by Cuban playwright Héctor Quintero.

El Bola is directed by Hugo Medrano, GALA’s founder and Artistic Director.

The legendary Cuban singer Ignacio Jacinto Villa, affectionately known as Bola de Nieve (Snowball), stormed the international music scene in the 1940s and stole hearts around the world for the next three decades.

This original musical follows the backstage antics of a director, a flamboyant “diva” and a santera who are staging a musical revue about Bola’s life. Audiences will swoon to the songs he interpreted so uniquely --- “El Manisero,” “La Vie en Rose,” “Babalú,” and “Flor de la Canela.”
