The inclusion of issues related to agriculture in Labor Education for primary and junior high appears today among the priorities of the next school year in Cuba.
According to authorities in the area, this initiative strengthens the Cuban State policy regarding the need of developing the conscience of producers.
In order to achieve this objective it is essential to build and create skills, explained to "Trabajadores" newspaper, the national director of Primary Education, Regla Silva.
In all grades there is a unit of study referred to the care of orchards and fields, and students also become familiar with cultural aspects of urban and suburban agriculture, she said.
From 2010-2011 school year Labor Education reappears with a new concept in seventh, eighth and ninth grades, said Deputy Minister Margarita McPherson.
To the date this course is focused on working with wood, metal, cutting and sewing, and a unit help the students to develop skills to build and repair objects and utensils, and had a dose of design and drawing. Now the course incorporates agriculture content.
