President Bashar al-Assad of Syria will arrive in Cuba on Sunday, the Notimex news agency reported Wednesday, citing the Syrian Embassy in Havana.
Al-Assad will "hold talks with the Cuban authorities about several topics and sign accords of economic cooperation," the report said.
Syrian diplomats told Notimex that their president would meet on Monday with Cuban President Raúl Castro. A visit to Fidel Castro is a possibility.
On Tuesday, Al-Assad will leave for Caracas, where he will meet with President Hugo Chávez, the diplomatic sources said. From there, he will go to Brazil and Argentina.
