The Bolivian government approved the donation of 3,000 tons of rice to Cuba by means of a supreme decree in solidarity with the island, press media said here Monday.
Bolivian newspaper Los Tiempos said the donation wants to ease damages by some hurricanes in Cuba in 2008.
The 0545 Supreme Decree authorized the donation to be delivered at the Chilean port of Arica.
The delivery has legal support with the characteristic reciprocity and solidarity between Cuba and Bolivia.
The project is being carried out by the Ministries of Economy and Finances together with the Ministries of Productive Development and Plural Economy.
The expenses for transportation will be covered by an enterprise belonging to the Ministry of Productive Development.
In 2008, Hurricanes Gustav, Ike and Paloma caused enormous damage to the Caribbean island, and destroyed homes, cultivations, food reserves and electric lines.
