AP. CARACAS, Venezuela – Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says a Salvadoran man carrying a false passport has been arrested upon arrival at Caracas' airport, and is wanted by Cuba as a suspect in a series of bombings.
Chavez said Friday that the suspect, Francisco Chavez Abarca, was detained by Venezuelan intelligence agents at the airport.
The president said the man is suspected of placing bombs in Havana and Mexico in 1997.
He called the Salvadoran a "big terrorist" and said he is associated with Cuban militant Luis Posada Carriles, a former CIA operative wanted for allegedly plotting the attack on the Cuban plane that killed 73 people.
