Japanese tour operator JTB and Russia’s Transaero made their first Cuba flights this weekend.
On Saturday, an Aeroméxico-operated Boeing 767-200 landed at José Martí International Airport in Havana from Tokyo, AIN reported. The plane made a technical stopover in Tijuana.
JTB plans three flights in August.

The Japanese tourists were welcomed by officials of Viajes Cubanacán and the ministry of tourism, a live band, and Havana Club rum.
Meanwhile, Russian charter airline Transaero landed its first flight from Moscow at the Matanzas airport, near the beach resort of Varadero. Transaero uses a Boeing 767, but plans to expand to a 777 if passenger numbers rise.
