Bogota, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) The President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, confirmed here Sunday that the Colombian government delivered to him the computers found on the murdered guerrilla leader Raul Reyes, a condition demanded by his country to restore bilateral relations.
Those computers were seized by the Colombian army after an illegal bombing of a clandestine camp of the Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) in Ecuadorian territory.
The action in which Reyes died along with 26 people generated strong diplomatic tensions between the two nations that resulted in the breaking off of diplomatic relations.
The computers attributed to Reyes have generated a series of controversies inside and outside Colombia because of the information they contain.
On the other hand Correa, who attended Sunday the swearing-in ceremony of Juan Manuel Santos as Colombia's new president, assured that his peer enjoys immunity, having been invested with the presidency, and that he can visit Quito whenever he wants.
"I hope it will be soon, he is welcome and enjoys all guarantees while in Ecuador", he added.
The Ecuadorian leader was referring to an exisiting arrest warrant against Santos in the neighbour country for his involvement in the afore-mentioned bombing, since at that time he was the Defense Minister of outgoing president Alvaro Uribe.
Correa added that in the next few days information related to that attack will be given to his government.
In the last few weeks Santos has given signs of reconciliation that have been well received by Ecuador, and that has reached its highest level with Correa's participation in the inauguration ceremony and the delivery of the computers.
