HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 12 (acn) Cuba's Deputy Foreign Minister, Rogelio Sierra, and Antonio de Aguiar, general secretary for Foreign Affairs of Brazil, signed on Thursday in Brasilia five agreements complementing a bilateral cooperation accord.

These documents implement projects in agriculture, metrology and geology,relating to the Basic Accord for Scientific, Technical and Technological Cooperation existing between the two countries, the Prensa Latina news agency reports.

Brazil not only contributes with specific projects on the island, but also learns a lot with Cubans in areas where they have international prestige, like health and biotechnology, declared De Aguiar.

Sierra pointed out that the new projects will allow for the implementation in a short term, of new actions of cooperation and will strengthen bilateral economic and comercial relations, the www.cubadebate.cu Web site reports.

The meeting of Political Consultations is a mechanism for exchange, conciliation and harmonizing of positions, which has proved to be an effective way for diplomatic communication between the two nations since its implementation in 2001, added the Deputy Foreign Minister.
