HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 28 (acn) Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro's book “The strategic victory” was launched today in Caracas during a ceremony presided over Cuban Commander Guillermo Garcia and Venezuela’s Culture Minister Francisco Sesto.
The launching ceremony was held at the ALBA Caracas hotel, and was attended by Cuban ambassador to Venezuela Rogelio Polanco, along Cuban cooperation brigade members and Venezuelan officials.
Commander Garcia told the audience stories of the guerrilla fight against Batista, in which he participated, and that is what “The strategic victory” is about, specifically a 74 day period in which the rebels defeated a mighty offensive against them.
The Cuban leader recalled that just 300 guerrilla defeated over 10,000 well-armed troops the dictator threw at them. This victory marked the turnover in the war, and the beginning of the end for the dictatorship.
