2010.09.03 - 17:14:48 / [email protected]. CAMAGUEY, Cuba.- More than 110 schools in the Cuban province of Camaguey have benefited from US $300,000 contributed by the United Nations Children’s Fund.

The money provided by the international organization facilitated the repairing of schools that were in bad conditions due to the passing of time and the effects of hurricanes Ike and Paloma in 2008, reported local newspaper Adelante.

Investments include the purchase of teaching aids and the installation of state-of-the-art cooking technology in boarding schools and those providing lunch to the students.

Sixty four kindergartens, 13 primary schools, 29 schools for children with disabilities and two secondary schools benefited from the fund, as well as two pre-university and rehabilitation centers.

Most remodeling actions will be finished by the beginning of the school year on September 6 and in the rest of the cases are expected to be completed by October.
