Havana Hosts Film Festival About Genre and Environment

HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 21 (acn) The Third Humberto Solas Low-Budget Cinema Theme Festival will be about genre and environment and it will take place in Havana from October 13-16.

For the first time the festival will be held outside its traditional venue of the southern city of Cienfuegos. The event will provide a space for the exchange between the cinema avant-garde and social sciences specialists and search for solutions to currents obstacles in audiovisual productions.

The event will promote films awarded at the Low-Budget Film Festival of Gibara and those seeking to raise the public’s awareness on current social, cultural and environmental conflicts made by Cuban and foreign filmmakers.

As traditionally, the festival will include the presentation of works by Cuban filmmaker Humberto Solas and a theoretical workshop about the production of low-budget films.
