HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 24 (acn) The Protocol of the 28th Meeting of the Cuba-Viet Nam Intergovernmental Mechanism for Scientific, Technical and Economic Cooperation was signed after four days of discussions in Havana on Thursday.

The document, signed by Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca and by Viet Nam’s Construction Minister Nguyen Hong Quan,includes the agreements adopted during the working sessions and the plan of action until 2011.

During the meeting, held from September 20 to the 23 in Havana, both sides checked on the state of ongoing accords and analyzed the possibilities of future exchanges in the fields of agriculture, trade, biotechnology, informatics,
health, petroleum, construction, tourism, sports and higher education.

Likewise, they signed the governing regulations of a Cuba-Viet Nam Cooperation Project for the Development of Rice Production in the island in the next five years.

Malmierca said that this Protocol is a new step toward the strengthening of bilateral relations amidst a complex international situation.
