The exhibition 50 Years Defending Socialism and the Cuban Revolution was inaugurated at the National Museum of the Revolution to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR).

More than 300 pieces made up the exhibition, which includes documents, photos, historic objects and personal belongings of the founders and supporters of the organization, and reflects the 50 years of existence of the largest grassroots organization of the country.

Opened the public at the Mirrors’ Hall until September 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the exhibition pays tribute to Fidel Castro’s wonderful idea to create this organization on September 28, 1960, and the Cuban Five, the men who for over twelve years have been imprisoned in US jails for fighting terrorism.

CDR National Chair Juan Jose Rabilero presided over the inauguration, which was attended by founders of the organization, relatives of Juan Ronda, the first CDR martyr; Osnay Miguel Colina, member of the UJC National Board; and Jose Andres Perez, the museum director.

Writer and historian Jose Antonio Gell presented the third edition of the multimedia titled A Chronology for the History of the CDRs, which he dedicated to Fidel Castro, Raul Castro, the Cuban Five and the heroic Cuban people.

The material contains texts and audio files that recount the most important deeds associated to the organization between 1959 and 1980. Undoubtedly, a valuable piece of reference for future generations of Cubans.
