Havana will host an International Conference on Sustainable EduTourism, set for November 7th through the 9th.

Among organizations that have confirmed their participation is the Canadian non-profit group, Canadian EduTourism Associates (CETA).

In announcing CETA’s participation in the upcoming Havana conference, the group’s president Lana Wood said they continue to push to raise the awareness of the social, environmental and economic importance of sustainable edutourism.

"We are dedicated to raising the awareness of the benefits of collaboration for sustainable edutourism results and the experts being made available through this event will give the delegates the opportunity to develop and move forward with their own sustainable tourism initiatives," Wood explained.

Delegates from more than a dozen countries will discuss issues such as the World Tourism Organization sustainable tourism indicators and performance measures, social and economic impacts of sustainable edutourism, underwater tourism and artificial reef product development and environmental education in workers within the tourism industry.

According to the organizing committee, the Havana conference on sustainable eduTourism is designed to explore and identify opportunities and benefits that exist when the educational, cultural, environment and tourism/hospitality sectors collaborate to identify and promote a region’s unique edutourism offerings.
