2010.11.02 - 09:51:45 / [email protected]. SANTIAGO DE CUBA.- The International Conference “Mechanical Engineering and Energy,” to be held this month in Santiago de Cuba, will assess the impact of the specialty on the environment and its practical use for national development.
Francisco Lafargue, acting Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Oriente, told ACN that the meeting will favor the development of research projects between Cubans specialists and colleagues from Spain, Mexico, Angola and other nations.
During the event, energy efficiency in technological processes, renewable sources of energy, environmental contamination, computer mechanics, agricultural mechanization, among other topics, will be analyzed by way of presentations, keynote lectures, round tables and posters from November 9th through the 11th.
The School of Mechanical Engineering began its activities at the University of Oriente in 1949. Later, the Faculty of Technology was created, which grouped studies for this specialty, and then several syllabuses were united at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
Mechanical Engineers graduated there, according to the Faculty’s Web site, are professionals with the knowledge, skills and values necessary to put at the service of society the development of science and technology linked to that specialty.
As part of their profile, they’re in charge of guaranteeing the exploitation of machines, equipment and mechanical facilities during their life cycle, with economic rationality and adequate use of human and material resources.
