Today, November 16 is Havana's anniversary foundation and those of us living in it are fervorously thankful for its protection, the one that embraces us with a colorful and shadow mantle, always enchanting.
But what is Havana without its stained glasses, huge doors leading us to the hallways, yards, inner balconies as to unveil the rich history already told and the one still to be released?
Encountered feelings are expressed in literature, music, fables, myths, legends which anyone can experience in daily life of artists, from the plastic arts, artisans, city dwellers wandering about and that contribute with their vivid narrations already forming part of Havana; yes, because living and feeling this city's very soul is to get in touch with its rhythm and I feel this is a privilege that not all may enjoy, that is why those of us looking at the sea with pleasure and smell the fresh wood worked by craftsmen, painted in light colors, its plants flourishing at living rooms, yards and balconies, are acquainted with Havana's attributes then I call for the Giraldilla, The Gentleman of Paris, the Templete (a small church, next to Plaza de Armas, this is the place where Havana was founded under a Ceiba tree) the Palace ofthe Captains Generals , the Obispo Street, the Old Square, the San Francisco Convent, The Havana's Christ and the Cathedral, for the feast representing one more anniversary of experienced glory, yes because Havana still has a lot to give to all!
Havana, happy anniversary
