Havana, Cuba.- The first draft of the declaration of the 20th Iberoamerican Summit, scheduled for Argentina on December 3-4, urges Washington to comply with the mandate of 19 consecutive resolutions approved by the UN General Assembly and to put an end to its almost 50 year-old economic blockade of Cuba.

The document reiterates a strong rejection of extraterritorial laws such as the Helms-Burton Act and describes this type of unilateral coercive measures as unacceptable since they damage the well-being of the peoples and their full access to the benefits of international cooperation.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, the document is already in the hands of the governments that will participate in the meeting in Mar del Plata.

This Argentinean city will also host a rally in solidarity with the Cuban Revolution under the auspices of Argentina-Cuba Friendship House the MASCUBA group on December 4.

Since the first Iberoamerican Summit in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1991, participants have always condemned the US economic, trade and financial blockade of the island.

This year’s meeting will take place under the slogan “Education for Social Inclusion.”
