Haiti - Epidemic : Brazil-Cuba partnership against cholera

04/12/2010 08:20:52. The Brazilian Ministry of Health announced Friday the transfer of $1MM to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to fight against cholera in Haiti. This amount will allow the establishment and operation of a new Cholera Treatment Centre (CTC) with a capacity of 110 beds in the town of Carrefour, for a period of three months.
With these funds, the new CTC of Carrefour expected to start operations in the next 48 hours. The operation of the CTC is a partnership between Brazil and Cuba. The Brazilian government provides financial resources and Cuba the health staff, of which 45 will be assigned to this CTC.
