Cuba Honors its Teachers

Havana, Cuba.- Jose Ramon Fernandez, vice president of the Council of Ministers, and the PhDs Armando Hart Davalos and Maria Dolores Ortiz received the homage of the Enrique José Varona Pedagogical Sciences University.
During the celebrations of Cuba’s Teacher's Day in that higher education center in Havana city, Education Minister Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella presented the awards to the grantees.
Teachers Josefina Piñón González and Emelina Pérez Herrera received the Frank País Order in its First Degree, while María Isabel Delgado Ortiz and Gloria Iraida Soto Canosa deserved it in its second degree.
The University Students Federation (FEU) also awarded the Gold Chalk and Alma Mater diploma to prominent industry professionals, at the same time the Ministry of Education (MOE) recognized retirees who are active in the classrooms or schools.
Along José Ramón Fernández and Ena Elsa Velázquez Rolando were Rolando Forneiro, education deputy minister, Martha Hernandez, director of Education in Havana, and Ismael Drullet, general secretary of the teachers union in the country.
