Escrito por Yoama Chappottin Ford. viernes, 24 de diciembre de 2010.Havana (Prensa Latina) The restoration of the heritage of the Cuban capital comes out of the efforts of the anonymous masses, who also deserve to come to light, Havana City Historian Eusebio Leal says.
In an interview with the Granma newspaper published Friday, Leal stated he wishes he could stop time to fulfill the dream of restoring Havana. The biggest source of anxiety is how much remains to be done; therefore, what is most important is daily action, he said.
The city historian said he believes he is only continuing, under new circumstances, the political will of the Cuban State of saving everything, an ever-present aspect in the history of the Revolution.
Eusebio talked about efforts to restore several monuments, such as that of National Hero Jose Marti in the Plaza of the Revolution, and the Alma Mater of the University of Havana, as well as other buildings.
In February, restoration of the Capitol building will begin. Currently uninhabited, it was the seat of Congress during the Republican period after being built in the late 1920s.
Leal positively emphasized community participation
